DPRK's Successful Satellite Launch Means Failure of U.S. Strategy toward DPRK: Korean Media Man in U.S.

Pyongyang, December 15 (KCNA) -- Korean in the U.S. Jong Ki Ryol who is editor-in-chief of the 4th Press, an English internet newspaper in China, was interviewed by Chinese Central TV on Dec. 12 as regards the successful launch of the second version of the DPRK's satellite Kwangmyongsong-3. I would like to clarify three points concerning the satellite launch, he said, and went on: First, what I would like to make clear is that the second version of satellite Kwangmyongsong-3 is not a missile claimed by media of the U.S., Japan and south Korea but it is a satellite. Second, there is a historic fact to be remembered, first of all, as regards the south Korean "presidential" election. It was the fact that when warship "Cheonan" sinking incident occurred on March 26, 2010, the Lee Myung Bak "government" passed the buck for it to the DPRK and tried to use it for raising "north wind" in local election which came later but it suffered a heavy defeat. Third, with the north's launch of the satellite as a momentum the U.S., Japan and south Korea are asserting that it is the launch of a missile and it does harm to the peace and security on the Korean Peninsula and the rest of Northeast Asia. Such claims are groundless. Lee Myung Bak and Park Geun Hye are working hard to create situation favorable for them in the forthcoming "presidential" election by painting the DPRK's launch of the satellite as a case for raising "the north wind" at any cost but their rows will only invite a shameful defeat. The second version of satellite Kwangmyongsong-3 is a working satellite for the economic and scientific purposes. The recent success made by the north in launching the satellite means a failure of the U.S. strategy toward the DPRK, he said, and continued: In other words, it means the U.S. prestige and face fell to the ground in the DPRK-U.S. confrontation. It was the original objective of the U.S. to put the whole of the Korean Peninsula under its control. But the U.S. failed to achieve it though nearly seven decades have passed. The U.S. has remained unchanged in denying the north's satellite for peaceful and economic purposes. This is part of the U.S. persistent moves to make the north devilish. The U.S. has long done everything as it pleases but it has failed to do so as far as the north is concerned. The north had access to nuclear weapons for self-defence and succeeded in launching satellites despite all difficulties and economic sanctions, far from yielding to the U.S. above-said moves, undisguised threat of military aggression and threat of nuclear attack. As a result, international prestige of the U.S. sank to the ground. This showed before the world the last chapter of standoff between the DPRK and the U.S. which has lasted for nearly seven decades. The U.S. pursued the strategy of military siege, pressure and economic blockade against the DPRK but suffered setbacks. The U.S. raised the same white flag during armed spy ship "Pueblo" case and EC-121 reconnaissance plane case as it did by concluding the Armistice Agreement. This time, too, it will raise the same white flag in the eyes of the world. He hoped that all south Koreans would properly face up to this and resolutely reject the "north wind" racket and thus bring about a victory so that the nation may co-prosper and co-exist. |
