The association has worked hard this significant year to bring earlier the independent and peaceful reunification of the country under the slogan of "Let all compatriots open the gate of national reunification with fresh confidence!", the statement said.

Only when the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration are thoroughly preserved, is it possible to achieve the cause of national reunification, the cherished desire of fellow countrymen, it noted.

If the anti-reunification forces are allowed to stay in power, it is impossible to achieve national reunification, peace and safety of the nation, it said, calling upon all the fellow countrymen to firmly unite under the banner of "By our nation itself" to check the moves of the sycophantic and treacherous forces keen on escalating confrontation with fellow countrymen.

It also called for certainly judging the treacherous forces which go against the trend of the June 15 era of reunification in the upcoming "presidential election" in south Korea and thus putting an end to the Lee Myung Bak group's hell-like five years of rule and checking the revival of the "yusin" dictatorship.

The Koreans in Japan will as ever strengthen national unity with compatriots in the north and the south and overseas, invariably holding aloft the banner of the north-south joint declarations so as to sternly judge the anti-reunification forces and make a tangible contribution to making 2013 a year of implementing the declarations, it stressed.
