Kim Jong Un in the letter said the Kumsusan Memorial Palace, predecessor of the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, is a sacred temple which comprehensively reflects the infinite loyalty and strong sense of moral obligation of Kim Jong Il for President Kim Il Sung.

Kim Jong Il made sure that the Kumsusan Assembly Hall was built in reflection of the ardent desire of the Korean people to uphold Kim Il Sung who successfully led the Korean revolution, undergoing all sorts of hardships, he said. After the untimely demise of the President, Kim Jong Il saw to it that the assembly hall was rebuilt as memorial palace, and let Kim Il Sung lie in state there for perpetuity.

The Korean army and people felt deep compunction for not having provided Kim Jong Il with an excellent assembly hall during his lifetime, Kim Jong Un said, adding that so he decided to let Kim Jong Il lie in state at the Kumsusan Memorial Palace after his demise together with Kim Il Sung and made sure that the Kumsusan Memorial Palace was renamed the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun and it was spruced up as an eternal temple of the sun.

He went on:

All the service personnel and people throughout the country shed tears in excitement with the feelings of gratitude and joy at the news that it was decided to hold Kim Jong Il in high esteem at the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun. They have devoted themselves to more splendidly sprucing up the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun as the supreme sacred temple of Juche for the past one year.

All the places in the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun are associated with the infinite loyalty and sincere devotion of our party, army and people to hold Generalissimos Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il in high esteem for all ages as in their lifetime.

The Kumsusan Palace of the Sun is not merely a product of the architectural art but a great monument perpetuating the memory of the leaders reflective of the pure faithfulness and strong sense of moral obligation of our party, army and people and a temple of the revolution where the feelings of loyalty of all the service personnel and people pervade.

The devotion our service personnel and people rendered to sprucing up the palace as the great temple of the sun rare to be found in the world was so sincere and ardent that it will make even flower bloom on a stone and make the sky shed tears. It vividly showed before the whole world that our single-minded unity is so sincere and unbreakable.

Kim Jong Un in his letter extended warm thanks to all the service personnel and people across the country who displayed the true picture and invincible might of socialist Korea where the leader, party, army and people form a harmonious whole and demonstrated before the world the strong sense of moral obligation of the genuine communists by devoting themselves to the historic national cause of sprucing up the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun as the supreme sacred temple of Juche in one mind of loyalty to the party and the leaders.

He said it is a fixed pledge our party, army and people took before the biers of the Generalissimos to uphold them for all ages as eternal sun as they devoted their all only to the prosperity of the country and people's happiness throughout their life, and to bring about a final victory of the revolutionary cause of Juche under the banner of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism.

He underscored the need for all the service personnel and people to defend at the risk of their lives the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun where Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, eternal spiritual mainstay and symbol of the great Paektusan nation, lie in state and the Party Central Committee and vigorously advance along the road of independence, Songun and socialism which the great Generalissimos covered all their life and our party is steadfastly following.

He went on: We should turn our country demonstrating its dignity as political, ideological and military power into an economic power as early as possible by embodying Kim Jong Il's patriotism and thereby usher in golden days of prosperity on this land where the people enjoy wealth and prosperity under socialism, as ardently desired by the Generalissimos.

We should also brilliantly bring into full bloom the lifetime wishes of the Generalissimos by accomplishing at any cost the historic cause of national reunification and building a great reunified Paektusan nation on the land of Korea by concerted efforts of the entire nation based on their great prestige and absolute authority and valuable legacies they left out of patriotism.

We will certainly achieve a final victory as Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, eternal sun of Juche, bless us with a bright future, Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism is clearly illuminating our road of revolution as an undying torch and the valuable revolutionary exploits they performed by dedicating their whole life are shining on this land as eternal foundations.
