KCNA Assails Invariable U.S. Hostile Policy towards DPRK

Pyongyang, December 18 (KCNA) -- The United States recently conducted with south Korea a "desk drill" at the State Los Alamos Nuclear Institute known as the biggest base for nuclear weapons development, according to the "scenario of nuclear threat" on the Korean Peninsula. Earlier, a spokesman for the U.S. Department of Defense said that the drill was aimed at studying various means to cope with the nuclear deterrence of the DPRK under the name of "nuclear deterrence test." The real purpose of the "desk drill" is to examine the preparations of the U.S. and south Korea for a nuclear war and bolster up their capability for preemptive attack under the pretext of "nuclear threat" from the DPRK. This is a clear indication of the invariable U.S. hostile policy towards the DPRK and Washington's scenario for preemptive nuclear attack on it. The above-said drill was staged at a time when high-ranking U.S. officials are becoming more vociferous in their criticism of the DPRK, claiming its "nuclear ambition and missile program" pose a "threat" to stability and peace in Northeast Asia and it is not observing its commitment as a member of the international community. This is a military action which should not be overlooked. The danger of the drill lies in that it was a test nuclear war and preliminary war drill staged under the simulated conditions of an actual war. The "test of deterrence" is nothing but a test for preemptive nuclear attack. The U.S., the world's biggest possessor of nukes, has undisguisedly posed a nuclear threat to the DPRK since the former put it on the list of targets of preemptive nuclear attack. The danger of nuclear war on the Korean Peninsula is escalating day by day due to the U.S. Every year it stages madcap nuclear war exercises against the DPRK in south Korea and its vicinity with huge means for preemptive nuclear attack involved. This year was not an exception. The U.S. staged together with the puppet group nuclear war drills across south Korea almost every day. Some time ago, the U.S. allowed south Korea to extend the missile range so that it might strike the whole areas of the DPRK. This indicates what phase the U.S. has reached in its reckless war hysteria to hurl the south Korean forces into a war against the DPRK as this amounts to providing them with conditions for a preemptive attack on it. It is preposterous for the U.S. to regard the DPRK's access to nuclear deterrence as a pretext for justifying its war moves. The huge nuclear forces the U.S. deployed in south Korea and the rest of the Pacific and the U.S. mainland are of nature quite different from the DPRK's nuclear deterrence for self-defence. The DPRK's nuclear deterrence is to cope with the U.S. nuclear blackmail from A to Z. But for the U.S. nuclear threat, the DPRK would not have felt any need to have access to nukes. The U.S. ever-escalating moves for a nuclear war reflect its invariable hostile policy towards the DPRK. The U.S. should roll back at once its hostile policy toward the DPRK, cogitating about all the consequences to be entailed by its nuclear war drills on the Korean Peninsula. |
