They claimed that the main objective of the exercise staged in a U.S. nuclear development base was to bolster up the "capability for extended deterrence" including operations to get familiar with "the scenario to cope with nuclear threat" from the DPRK and its procedures and round off "tailored deterrence."

Rodong Sinmun Wednesday observes in a bylined commentary in this regard:

This is a grave provocation as it disclosed their undisguised scenario to mount a preemptive nuclear attack on the DPRK and a criminal act of pushing the situation on the Korean Peninsula and in the region to the brink of a war.

The exercise is nothing but a saber-rattling aimed to increase the capability for carrying out a nuclear war against the DPRK under the pretext of "deterring nuclear threat"

This drill once again brought to light the adventurous scenario of the U.S. and the south Korean puppet forces to threaten the DPRK with nukes and ignite a war against it on the Korean Peninsula at any cost.

Due to the reckless moves of the Lee Myung Bak group of traitors the situation on the peninsula remains so tense that a war may break out any moment. The exercise staged by the warmongers under that situation is little different from a play with fire just beside a powder magazine.

Facts go to clearly prove who is the arch criminal busy perpetrating military provocations and posing a nuclear threat to the peninsula.

The present developments clearly indicate the DPRK was entirely right when it chose the road of Songun and confirm the immutable truth that it is necessary to bolster up the capability for self-defence to the maximum in order to protect peace and security on the Korean Peninsula.
