Commemorative Stamp Issued in DPRK

| Pyongyang, December 22 (KCNA) -- The DPRK State Stamp Bureau issued a new kind of stamp to mark the 40th anniversary of the promulgation of the DPRK Socialist Constitution (December 27, 1972). Seen in the stamp are letters "Promulgation of DPRK Socialist Constitution", "In Commemoration of 40th Anniversary", "1972" and "2012". The stamp also pictures the national emblem of the DPRK and magnolia, its national flower. On December 27, Juche 61 (1972), the 1st Session of the 5th Supreme People's Assembly approved the draft Socialist Constitution worked out by President Kim Il Sung. The Constitution was revised on September 5, 1998, to specify that Kim Il Sung is the eternal President of the DPRK. The 5th Session of the 12th SPA in April this year amended the Constitution to specify that General Secretary Kim Jong Il is the eternal chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission. |
