On the basis of the experience gained in the Songun (military-first) revolution waged by President Kim Il Sung, he clarified a new view that the army plays a role of the main driving force in carrying out the revolution and construction. This view was derived from the features of the revolutionary army especially strong in fighting spirit and sense of organization and discipline, and it represented the requirements of the Songun era.

Thanks to his unique idea and energetic guidance, the KPA has grown up to be well-organized militant ranks strong in ideology and faith and intensely loyal to its leader, the supreme commander.
