At this time when the fraternal and close Korean people are marking the first anniversary of demise of Comrade Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, I pay highest tribute to Your Excellency on behalf of the people of Guinea-Bissau and on my own behalf, the message said.

Recalling the enormous efforts General Secretary Kim Jong Il made for the prosperity of the Korean people, the president of Guinea-Bissau, availing himself of the opportunity, looked back with deep emotion on the historic friendly and cooperative relations forged between the two countries since the early years of the national liberation struggle of his people.

The president sincerely hoped that the bilateral cooperation between the DPRK and the Republic of Guinea-Bissau would grow strong on a higher level in the interests of the peoples of the two countries.

The president sent highest regard to Kim Jong Un.
