It reported that he put the defence capability of the country on a high level.

The Lao newspaper Congtap Pasason Lao edited an article titled "Kim Jong Il's patriotism" accompanied with a portrait of the smiling leader.

It stressed that the long journey of Songun made by Kim Jong Il to defend the country, weathering difficulties, was a rugged and death-defying path hard to traverse.

Thanks to his self-sacrificing dedication to the country and its people, the DPRK ranked itself among the world's satellite manufacturers and launchers and nuclear weapons states, it reported.

The Bangladeshi newspaper Ekota carried an article praising the exploits of Kim Jong Il, who frustrated the imperialists' offensive to stifle the DPRK with the might of Songun and ushered in a new era of building a thriving socialist nation.
