The statement has kindled the DPRK people with bitter indignation at the south Korean group of traitors.

Kim U Chol, an officer of the Korean People's Army, told KCNA:

"The south Korean military flamed a light atop Aegi Hill in the western sector of the front in December last year, as part of the anti-DPRK psywar. And it has persisted in confrontation and war moves against the DPRK from the outset of the new year.

The war maniacs and all other anti-reunification forces in south Korea should be aware that the Korean People's Army already declared a sacred war to wipe out the roots of confrontation and war."

Hong Chol Hwa, director of the Law Institute of the Academy of Social Sciences, said:

"Confrontation with fellow countrymen will only lead to war.

The north-south relations now stand at the crossroads of war and peace, confrontation and dialogue.

The DPRK is desirous of a peaceful and reunified, thriving nation, but it will answer those keen to start a war with a sacred war, merciless retaliation.

The south Korean authorities should behave with discretion."
