In the address, Kim Jong Un said that the new year 2013 is a year of great creations and changes in which a radical turnabout will be effected in the building of a thriving socialist country on the road of the onward march in the new century of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il's Korea. He stressed that a radical turn should be brought about in the building of an economic giant on the strength of science and technology by fanning the flames of the industrial revolution in the new century. The industrial revolution in the new century is, in essence, a scientific and technological revolution and breaking through the cutting edge is a shortcut to the building of an economic giant, he added.

His New Year address calls on everyone to make substantial achievements helpful to building a thriving nation through a campaign of breaking through the cutting edge.

Cha Man Baek, a section chief of the C.C., General Federation of Science and Technology of Korea, told KCNA: It can never be called patriotism to just give cheers for successful satellite launch. Anyone should do admirable things, true to Marshal Kim Jong Un's plan and intention, like those who successfully launched satellite Kwangmyongsong 3-2 to conquer space. Then, it can be called true patriotism.

In hearty response to the call of Kim Jong Un, the Korean people will break through the cutting edge on the strength of science and technology and turn Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il's Korea into a knowledge-based economic power and a civilized socialist country.
