In hearty response to his New Year address, agricultural workers in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea have turned out in farming preparations for this year.

Those in Anak County, South Hwanghae Province, trucked more than 7 000 tons of organic fertilizer to fields in a day alone.

Co-op farms in Yonan, Paechon, Unchon and Unryul counties of the province are pushing ahead with repair of farm machines, seed storage and all other farm operations.

Co-op farms in Jongju City, North Phyongan Province, give a large amount of manure to fields by rational use of carrying means. Those in Thaechon County in the province set it as a goal to apply in the double-crop fields 1.3 times more organic fertilizer than last year.

Hundreds of thousands of tonnes of compost were secured in South Phyongan Province in a few days.

Co-op farms in Kangwon Province and Pyongyang City are also making full preparations for this year's farming.
