Cameraman Ri Song Bae, DPRK's Merited Artist

Pyongyang, January 14 (KCNA) -- A photo album on the theme "Snow-ice Layers and Ice Caves of Mt. Paektu" has gained popularity in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. The album, listed as one of the national treasures, was made by a cameraman, Dr. Ri Song Bae who is Labor Hero and Merited Artist. For scores of years, he had made explorations of Mt. Paektu to find out unknown natural phenomena there. He discovered that char and many other living things exist in Lake Chon on the mountain. He also photographed peaks, rocks, beauty spots and mysterious natural phenomena witnessed in Mt. Paektu. Even after he retired, he released an album picturing 130 pieces of volcanic stones, which are helpful to proving how the mountain was formed by volcano. Besides, he discovered new natural phenomena around Jongil Peak, falls, hot springs and various species of plants and animals, which had not been found in the mountain. |
