The behests of leader Kim Jong Il were successfully carried out last year which marked the centenary of birth of President Kim Il Sung, they noted.

This year is a year of great creations and changes in which a radical turnabout will be effected in the building of a thriving socialist country on the road of the onward march in the new century of Kim Il Sung's and Kim Jong Il's Korea, they said, adding:

The New Year Address reflects the iron will and grand plan of Kim Jong Un to bring about a decisive turn in building an economic giant and improving the standard of people's living this year.

Calling on all the Koreans to get united this year and bring about a new phase of national reunification through a nationwide patriotic movement for reunification, they urged the south Korean authorities to opt for taking the road of national reconciliation and reunification, clearly mindful that confrontation with fellow countrymen will only lead to a war.

They underscored the need to firmly preserve and carry forward the undying feats Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il performed for the cause of national reunification and thus open a new phase of implementing the north-south joint declarations.
