S. Korean Organizations Denounce US for Calling for Tightened Military Nexus

Pyongyang, January 18 (KCNA) -- More than 30 civic and public organizations of south Korea including the Solidarity for Democracy, People's Life, Peaceful Reunification and Sovereignty on Jan. 15 made public a press release rapping the U.S. for egging south Korea and Japan on to tighten their military nexus. Referring to the south Korea visit by a U.S. assistant secretary of State, the press release said that its purpose is to prod south Korea and Japan into concluding GSOMIA. The U.S. has put various forms of pressure upon the south Korean authorities to adopt the military agreement with Japan, it said, and went on: Through this the U.S. seeks to cook up the U.S.-Japan-south Korea tri-angular military alliance and step up its hostile policy towards the DPRK. That was why the U.S. has so far massively beefed up the armed forces in Northeast Asia and wire-pulled the construction of a naval base on Jeju Island behind the scene. The tri-angular military alliance will escalate the military tension and arms race in Northeast Asia and thus spark another Cold War to threaten peace. The U.S. should immediately stop the moves for tightening the military nexus. |
