Almost 60 years have passed since the ceasefire in Korea but the U.S. still exercises the control over the south Korean armed forces, highlighting the existence of the "UN Command", the statement said.

The "UN Command" is a dreg of the times whose dissolution was already declared at the UN General Assembly session, it noted.

Both the DPRK and the U.S. sides have effectively managed the ceasefire for decades, it said, adding this shows there is no reason whatsoever to keep the "UN Command".

It extended full support to the stand of the DPRK government on dissolving the "UN Command".
