Dissolution of "UN Command" Demanded by Bulgarian Figure
Pyongyang, January 23 (KCNA) -- Atanas Ivanov, honorary chairman of the Bulgarian Communists Union, released a statement titled "'UN Command' should be dissolved without delay" on Jan. 17 in support of the memorandum of the DPRK Foreign Ministry.

The statement said:

Almost 60 years have passed since the conclusion of the Korean Armistice Agreement, but fragile state of cease-fire persists for the lack of an institutional mechanism guaranteeing peace. This is mainly attributable to the U.S. policy toward the DPRK.

The U.S. sinister intention to maintain cease-fire finds a vivid expression in the fact that it is strongly opposed to the dissolution of the "UN Command", specter-like leftover of the Cold War.

What merits a serious attention is that the U.S. seeks to revive the illegal "UN Command" according to its new defence strategy and use it as a tool for a war of aggression in the Asia-Pacific region, the biggest hotspot in the world.

The statement urged the U.S. to immediately dissolve the "UN Command" and withdraw its forces for aggression from south Korea in accordance with the demand of the Korean people and the international community for terminating the cease-fire on the Korean Peninsula and achieving its peace and stability.
