Unity Called for by S. Korean Organization
Pyongyang, January 23 (KCNA) -- The Emergency Situation Council to Urgently Cope with Layoff, Part-time Jobs and Destruction of Trade Unions in south Korea held a rally in Seoul on Jan. 19.

At the rally speakers deplored that many workers committed suicides in protest against the authorities' policy against the workers, including massive layoff and suppression of the labor movement.

They said social integration ignoring pain of workers is deception and economic democracy ignoring their tears is nothing but a fiction.

They urged the authorities to face up to the deplorable reality of darkness and not to let the situation go from bad to worse.

The ongoing action is not to lose any more workers, they said, stressing the need to settle at an early date the situation at Ssangyong Motors and Hanjin Heavy Industry.

They called upon broad sections of people to get united in the actions to have the workers' demands met.

A declaration was read out at the rally.
