Occultation Phenomena to be Seen This Year: Astronomer
Pyongyang, January 23 (KCNA) -- A wave of eye-catching occultation phenomena are expected this year.

In this regard, KCNA met Kang Chang Hyok, a section chief of the Pyongyang Observatory.

He said:

The phenomena will be observed on 15 occasions this year, with the first expected to be at around 12:00 of January 22 and the last to be at around 12:00 of November 26.

Moonrise on the 15th day of the first month by the lunar calendar (February 24) will be at 16:59 at the azimuth of 256.2 degrees. The full moon can be seen on February 26.

Venus will be seen in the east before sunrise from early January to mid-March and in the west after the sunset from early April to late December.

Meanwhile, annular solar eclipse will occur on May 10, partial solar eclipse on November 3, partial lunar eclipse on April 26 and penumbral lunar eclipse on May 25 and October 19, with all of them unable to be observed in Korea.

The 24th cycle of solar activities is forecast to lose its force this year, too.
