Sports Contest of Officials of National Institutions Opens

| Pyongyang, January 24 (KCNA) -- The 18th Sports Contest of Officials of National Institutions for Paektusan Prize opened with due ceremony at the Basketball Gymnasium in Chongchun Street Thursday in celebration of the birth anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il that falls on Feb. 16. The contest slated to last till Feb. 7 will include basketball, volleyball and Taekwon-do games as well as rope-pulling and group running matches. Venues include the Volleyball Gymnasium and the Taekwon-do Hall in Chongchun Street and the Rungna People's Pleasure Park in Pyongyang. Kim Ki Nam, Ro Tu Chol and other officials were present at the opening ceremony. At the end of the ceremony, there was a men's basketball match between the teams of the ministries of Railways and Agriculture. |
