The 18th Paektusan Prize Sports Contest among Officials of National Institutions and the 10th National Basketball Tournament of Agricultural Workers will be held on the occasions of the Day of the Shining Star (Feb. 16), leader Kim Jong Il's birthday, and the Day of the Sun (Apr. 15), President Kim Il Sung's birthday.

A sports contest of coal miners, a swimming contest of officials from ministries and national institutions and a national sports contest of workers are scheduled in May, July and August respectively.

There will be a basketball tournament of officials from commissions, ministries and national institutions and national folk and amusement games will take place to mark the anniversary of the proclamation of the Law on Sex Equality.

Meanwhile, the year will witness the 3rd national tournament of football classes at secondary schools.

Those sports events will contribute to fanning up sports enthusiasm in the country.
