On this occasion the Korean people are recalling the feats performed by President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il for building and strengthening the WPK.

Hong Myong Chol, an official of the primary party committee of Pyongyang Kim Won Gyun Conservatory, told KCNA:

"With the day of the meeting approaching, I sorely miss President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il, who had devoted themselves to developing the WPK into an invincible one.

The WPK is the party of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il. Herein lies the high prestige and dignity the party is enjoying.

The glorious course covered by the WPK and all its feats are unthinkable apart from their august names."

Kim Kwang Ok, a teacher of Pyongyang Han Tok Su University of Light Industry, said:

"The greatness of a party rests with the greatness of its leader.

The ever-victorious history of the WPK founded by President Kim Il Sung was creditably carried forward by leader Kim Jong Il.

In his early days of work at the WPK Central Committee, Kim Jong Il set it as his lifelong mission to develop the party into Kim Il Sung's party.

He had worked heart and soul to turn the WPK into steel-like ranks and a seasoned political organization united under the banner of the Juche idea.

That is why the 4th WPK Conference, held in April last year, adopted a decision on holding Kim Jong Il in high esteem as the eternal WPK general secretary, in representation of the desire of all the party members, servicepersons and other people.

The august names of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il will go down forever along with the history of the WPK."
