Taekwon-Do Players Increase in DPRK

Pyongyang, January 28 (KCNA) -- Taekwon-Do has become one of the most popular sporting events among young people in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. In this regard, KCNA met Yun Kwang Sik, a vice department director of the C.C., Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League. He said: "There are more than 200 Taekwon-Do groups nationwide, involving thousands of players. The group, run by the Pyongyang Students and Children's Palace, has more than 100 players. Some of the players have displayed their high techniques at various national tournaments, including the annual National Schoolchildren's Sports Contest for Jongilbong Prize, drawing attention of Taekwon-Do experts and fans. Most of the local Taekwon-do aces had belonged to juvenile Taekwon-Do groups." |
