U.S. Can Never Evade Responsibility for Nuclear Issue of Korean Peninsula: Ukrainian Paper

Pyongyang, January 30 (KCNA) -- The Ukrainian internet paper Obektivnaya Gazeta on Jan. 23 edited an article titled "Arch criminal of nuclear issue of Korean Peninsula". The nuclear issue of the peninsula spawned since the U.S. shipped nuclear weapons into south Korea on Jan. 29, 1958, the article said, and went on: The U.S. pushed forward the introduction of nuclear weapons into south Korea, openly blustering that the peninsula is a "strategic vantage" in which its nukes can be used and a "test ground of a nuclear war". South Korea turned into the largest advanced nuclear base in the Far East in the mid 1970s. At that time, member of the U.S. House of Representatives Ronald admitted that the U.S. shipped more than 1 000 nuclear weapons into south Korea and deployed 54 planes for delivering nuclear bombs there. The U.S. has worked out lots of scenarios for a nuclear war against the DPRK and steadily worked hard to materialize them through all kinds of war maneuvers. As evidenced by these facts, the DPRK has been exposed to constant nuclear threats from the U.S. from half a century ago. This compelled the DPRK to pay deep attention to settling the nuclear issue from long ago. The DPRK has made every possible effort to settle the nuclear issue of the Korean Peninsula since the U.S. announced its shipment of nukes to south Korea in January 1958. The DPRK joined NPT and IAEA and signed the DPRK-U.S. agreed framework in hopes of removing the U.S. nuclear threats and the danger of a nuclear war from the Korean Peninsula. But the U.S. nuclear threats to the DPRK have increased. The U.S. is entirely to blame for the nuclear issue of the peninsula. The U.S., however, has tried to make the public convince that the DPRK is to blame for the above-said issue. Herein lies the reason that the DPRK's nuclear deterrent reliably guarantees the peace of the peninsula. The international community is watching what attitude the U.S. will take in response to the DPRK's assertion. Now is the time for the U.S. to take a responsible attitude. The U.S. can never evade the responsibility for the nuclear issue of the Korean Peninsula. |
