Japanese Reactionaries Lambasted for Moving to Legalize Overseas Aggression

Pyongyang, January 30 (KCNA) -- Masanori Nishi, director for policy of the Japanese Ministry of Defense, recently visited the U.S. and agreed with it to hold negotiations on the issue of reexamining "Japan-U.S. Defence Cooperation Guidelines". The agreement was followed up with section chief-level talks between Japan and the U.S. on Jan 17. Japan calls for revising the guidelines under the pretext of "change in security circumstances" and "tightened Japan-U.S. alliance" and insists that Japan has to exercise the "right to collective self-defense" to this end. Minju Joson Wednesday says in a bylined commentary in this regard: Japan is apparently opting for militarist aggression overseas which has already reached a serious stage. The Japanese reactionaries appear to think that now is the golden time for them to revive the "right to collective self-defense". The U.S. has set it as the first and foremost political, military and diplomatic aim to dominate the Asia-Pacific region, and is tapping all the resources available in the military and diplomatic aspects. It is the real intention of the Japanese reactionaries to provide legal and institutional mechanism favorable for realizing militarist expansion overseas by reviving the "right to collective self-defense" while taking the advantage of the U.S. policy of focusing on the Asia-Pacific region. This was evidenced by the fact that Japan's Minister of Defense Onodera talked on the phone to U.S. Secretary of Defense Panetta on Jan. 8 Japan will bolster the role of the "Self-Defense Forces" and deterrent in line with the U.S. new defense strategy. The Japanese reactionaries should stop at once foolish acts, aware that militarist aggression overseas will lead it to destruction. |
