There took place "combined midwinter exercises" between the U.S. forces and the south Korean puppet forces for days from Jan. 17. They plan to hold a "wintertime joint drill" in February.

The U.S. forces and artillery units and the marine corps of south Korea are being involved in the drills and the U.S. forces' radar provides the south Korean puppet army with fire coordinates. The army is granted the firing right.

This is a vivid revelation of the intention to push the situation on the Korean Peninsula to the extremes and ignite a new war of aggression at any cost.

What adds to the gravity of the drill is that the "wintertime joint drill" is planned to be held in the area of Phohang whose coastal area is similar to that in the DPRK, and that overseas-based U.S. marines are to be hurled to launch the drill of "preemptive attack" on strategic points including the nuclear and missile bases in the DPRK as well as landing operations.

However, the U.S. and the south Korean puppet forces say the drill is aimed to get "accustomed to the topographical features of the Korean Peninsula in wintertime", preposterous and sheer sophism.

Grim situation is prevailing on the Korean Peninsula and in its vicinity due to the hostile acts of the ferocious U.S. and its allies which wantonly violated the universally-recognized independent right of a sovereign state to develop space.

Due to the U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK, there created a touch-and-go situation in which a nuclear war may break out any moment on the Korean Peninsula, world's biggest hotspot. This laid a great obstacle in the efforts of the Koreans for peace and stability.

The U.S. and the south Korean puppet forces staged joint exercises of all branches of arms, the first of its kind in history, from the outset of the year. This can never be overlooked.

All the military exercises staged by the U.S. are an open military threat and a serious war act against the DPRK as they stemmed from the U.S. administration's adventurous attempt to lead the acute DPRK-U.S. confrontation to a war.

The U.S. and south Korea have rounded off the combat command and operation command system, a planned and provocative step aimed to provoke a war.

The hostile policy toward the DPRK being pursued by the U.S. and all other dishonest forces, the U.S. huge nuclear forces that back the policy and provocative military exercises pose greatest threat to the peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.

The army and people of the DPRK will never pardon the reckless war moves of the U.S. and south Korea but reliably defend the security and the sovereignty of the country by dint of a nuclear deterrence for self-defence.

Those who dare provoke the just cause of the DPRK will meet death only.
