S. Korean Metal Workers Stage General Strikes

| Pyongyang, February 1 (KCNA) -- The south Korean Metal Workers Union staged general strikes in Seoul, Taejon, Kwangju, Pusan and other places in North and South Chungchong, North and South Jolla and South Kyongsang provinces on Jan. 30 in protest against the "government" authorities' unpopular rule. The organization said it would not halt strikes unless such demands of the workers as abolition of layoff and end to moves to destroy trade unions are met. That day the Confederation of Trade Unions held a rally as regards the general strikes of the Metal Workers Union. |
