Quilt Decorations, One of Koreans' Traditional Living Customs
|
|
Pyongyang, February 1 (KCNA) -- The folklore village built in the Pyongyang Folklore Park showcases the traditional living customs of Koreans according to localities. One of them is the quilt decorations in rooms, peculiar to Phyongan provincial people in the period of the Feudal Joson Dynasty (1392-1910). Quilts and pillows are piled up separately in good order on a cabinet decorated with pieces of pig iron, with a net-cloth wrapper covered on them. The inside of quilt is covered with white cotton cloth and the outside with silk of various colors. Each side of a pillow with white-color tick is adorned by embroideries featuring various species of animals and plants. Such quilt decorations render a room neat and tidy. The custom is one of things that represent the cultural attainments of the Korean people. |
