Japan's Residency-General Rule over Korea
|
|
Pyongyang, February 1 (KCNA) -- It is 107 years since the Japanese imperialists began establishing a colonial residency-general rule over Korea. After faking up the "Ulsa Five-Point Treaty" in 1905, the Japanese imperialist aggressors deprived the Feudal Joson Dynasty (1392-1910) of all its real power, with the residency-general set up in Seoul in 1906 as machinery for colonial rule. The residency-general was headed by Hirobumi Ito, the ringleader of aggression on Korea. The resident-general, directly under the Japanese king, was a de facto ruler in Korea, privileged with all rights to take control of legislature, judicature, administration and military affairs. While enforcing residency-general rule, the Japanese imperialists left intact the government of the Feudal Joson Dynasty as a tool to disguise their colonial rule and calm down the Korean people's anti-Japan sentiments. They alleged that the residency-general was no more than an agency merely assisting the dynasty. With the establishment of this residency-general, they laid political, economic and military foundations for completely colonizing Korea. The DPRK people will surely make Japan pay dear price for all crimes it committed during its colonial rule over Korea. |
