Bonakele Majuba, secretary of the Mfumalanga Provincial Committee of the South African Communist Party who doubles as chairman of the South African Association of Friendship and Solidarity with Korean People, was elected chairman of the preparatory committee.

The preparatory committee decided to hold colorful political and cultural events including seminar, lecture, reading session, photo exhibition and film show on the occasion of the Day of the Shining Star.

A message of greeting to the dear respected Kim Jong Un was adopted at the inaugural ceremony.
