KCNA Commentary Denounces "Special Pardon" in S. Korea
|
|
Pyongyang, February 4 (KCNA) -- Traitor Lee Myung Bak of south Korea recently pushed for a "special pardon" under such spurious signboard as the "great unity of the people". Matter is that through the farce of the "special pardon" he released en masse his close confidants including Choe Si Jung, former chairman of the Broadcasting and News Agency Committee. This has touched off unanimous censure and wrath of south Koreans including members of ruling and opposition parties. Lee fully disclosed his true colors as not only a special class criminal but as a political swindler who deceived the people and betrayed the nation. South Koreans of all social standings regard Lee as a chief culprit of all kinds of social evils and crimes as well as a top class confrontation maniac. Those who were granted "special pardon" are philistines and traitors who are directly responsible for the deterioration of the people's livelihood and took the lead in escalating confrontation with fellow countrymen. As far as Choe Si Jung is concerned, he, closest confidant of Lee, was put forward as a shock brigade in putting the media under the "government's" control. Lee said that the "post of the chairman of the Broadcasting and News Agency Committee is 100 times more important than that of the director of the Intelligence Service". Choe was thrown into prison being censured by the public as "Goebbels of MB" and "chief of broadcasting and news agency". During the period of Lee's office, the south Korean media have become more conservative and reptile, and the ultra-right media took the lead in escalating confrontation with fellow countrymen. Choe played a big role in it. These are just typical examples of what were done by Lee through "pardon" for criminals during his office. Those who were active for independence, democracy and reunification in south Korea were put behind the bars but they used to be excluded from the list of prisoners subject to "pardon". A lot of prisoners of conscience are suffering from pain in prisons and the number of people falling victims to the fascist laws is now on the steady increase. All facts prove that the "special pardon" farce is just a means for Lee's stay in power and collection of wealth and that it is not aimed to achieve the "great unity of the people". In the closing days of his office, Lee set free a number of criminals who are his close confidants by abusing power. Lee seeks to cover up his despicable crimes and, furthermore, to make dictatorial ruling forces, forces keen on escalating confrontation with fellow countrymen, lord it over in south Korea, and spread their poison throughout its society. The recent step of "special pardon" taken by Lee is another crime that adds to the crimes he had already committed. It is by no means fortuitous that the south Korean people are becoming increasingly assertive in criticizing the recent measure as a "group prison breaking" orchestrated by traitor Lee while calling his group an "unveiled Mafia group." Lee will have to pay a dear price for all his crimes. |
