Association of Koreans in Japan for Peaceful Reunification Meets
Pyongyang, February 6 (KCNA) -- A meeting of members and secretaries of the Association of Koreans in Japan for Peaceful Reunification took place in Tokyo on Feb. 1.

Present at the meeting were So Chung On, director of the Department for International Relations and Reunification Issue of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan, Ri Tong Je, chairman of the Association of Koreans in Japan for Peaceful Reunification, and its members and secretaries.

So Chung On made an address at the meeting.

He denounced the U.S. and its allies for fabricating the United Nations Security Council "resolution on sanctions" banning the satellite launch for peaceful purposes, an exercise of the independent right of a sovereign state.

The DPRK declared it would take a resolute retaliatory step to cope with the prevailing situation, he noted.

He stressed that the Association of Koreans in Japan for Peaceful Reunification would escalate the movement for national reunification this year.

Then followed a report by Ri Tong Je.

He underlined the need to give a definite priority to the political information service to open a new phase for national reunification this historical year marking the 65th anniversary of the DPRK and the 60th anniversary of the victorious Fatherland Liberation War.

He said that it is necessary for the present to remove the confrontation between the north and the south and settle the reunification issue by concerted efforts of the Korean nation in an independent manner out of the stand of giving priority to the nation, attaching importance to the nation and achieving national unity.

He called for consolidating the Association of Koreans in Japan for Peaceful Reunification and enhancing its role as required by the developing reunification movement.

Then followed speeches.

A resolution was adopted at the meeting.
