Rodong Sinmun Condemns UNSC Bereft of Impartiality

Pyongyang, February 7 (KCNA) -- It is none other than the U.S. and the UN Security Council dancing to its tune that are chiefly responsible for the touch-and-go situation prevailing on the Korean Peninsula, says Rodong Sinmun Thursday in a bylined article. It goes on: It is just a few days after the "resolution on sanctions" against the DPRK was fabricated at the UNSC that the U.S. and other countries carried out missile interceptor tests and Japan launched a spy satellite, military acts of posing a threat to peace and security. The UNSC made much fuss over the DPRK's satellite launch for peaceful purposes but refused to take up the above-said acts. These contradictory facts compel the DPRK to question the UNSC. Is this a fair attitude for peace and security? Why does it keep mum about the missile tests and the launch of a spy satellite of those countries which threaten them so much. They claim they are allowed to conduct nuclear tests and launch long-range missiles but the DPRK's satellite launch for peaceful purposes poses a threat to global peace and security. This logic is brigandish and unreasonable. The UNSC has been reduced to a marionette of the U.S. for which some of its permanent members are to blame. If powers claim they are allowed to enjoy privileges and conduct high-handed practices while small countries should obey them and fall victim to them, such world cannot but be the one based on the jungle law. This goes to clearly prove once again the justice of the demand of the world people for reforming the anachronistic UNSC. The UNSC should draw a serious lesson from this situation, concludes the article. |
