Exercise of Right to Peaceful Use of Space Is Battle for Defending Sovereignty: KCNA Commentary
|

Pyongyang, February 7 (KCNA) -- The U.S.-masterminded adoption of "resolution on sanctions" against the DPRK over its successful launch of satellite Kwangmyongsong 3-2 made the army and people of the DPRK to turn out in a do-or-die battle for defending the country's sovereignty. The U.S. and its allies wantonly violated the independent right of a sovereign state to develop space. This hostile act is an indication of the inveterate repugnance and hostility toward the ideology and social system in the DPRK. Defending the right to the peaceful use of space is not just an issue pertaining to the right to develop space but an issue related to the destiny as it is one for defending the sovereignty and achieving the prosperity of the country and the nation. Sovereignty is what keeps dignified Kim Il Sung's nation and Kim Jong Il's Korea alive. The army and people of the DPRK have never allowed the nation's sovereignty to be encroached upon and the supreme interests of the nation infringed on. They have bolstered the national defence capabilities and firmly safeguarded the gains of socialism defying the U.S.-led imperialists' ever-more undisguised moves to isolate and stifle the country. We can never forget the grief Korea suffered as a weak nation a century ago which left a deep scar in the nation's history. Clear is the aim sought by the hostile forces in stepping up rhetoric against the DPRK. They seek to break the independent stand of the DPRK and force it to take down the socialist banner. A single step backward will rid the DPRK of its right to existence, to say nothing of building a thriving country. Satellites and long-range rockets to be launched by the DPRK in the future will become the struggle of a new higher stage in defending the sovereignty of the Korean people. There is no reason whatsoever to have repugnance against the DPRK's efforts to explore space with its own strength, technology and wisdom. The DPRK is at the crossroad of whether it leaves its sovereignty to be encroached upon by the U.S. which found fault with the DPRK's peaceful satellite launch or it demonstrates its dignity as a space power. So, the army and people of the DPRK are now feeling surging anger at the U.S. It is quite natural that the DPRK's efforts of building an economic giant, its struggle for conquering space and its measure of bolstering deterrence for defending the country's peace and security will all orientate toward the all-out action targeting the U.S. The army and people of the DPRK will surely win a victory as they are advancing along the road of justice to defend the sovereignty with firm conviction in the justice of their cause. |
