Rodong Sinmun Blasts Japan's Intention to Reexamine "Defense Program Guidelines"

Pyongyang, February 8 (KCNA) -- The Japanese government led by the Liberal Democratic Party at a recent Cabinet meeting decided to reexamine the "defense program guidelines" which had been worked out in the period of the Democratic Party. According to the decision, new "defense program guidelines" the keynote of which is to increase mobility and strike capability of the "Self-Defense Forces" will be worked out within this year. Rodong Sinmun Friday says in a bylined commentary in this regard: This brought to light the bellicose nature of the Japanese militarist forces set to launch full-scale overseas aggression by turning the SDF into the first-class regular armed forces. The "defense program guidelines" are, in essence, a document for reinvasion and a war scenario. A Japanese institute for defense studies said in a report that the sphere of military operation of Japan is wider than that of the "Greater East Asia Co-prosperity Sphere," adding that the order "Forward towards Asia-Pacific!" was issued to the SDF. This being a hard fact, the Japanese reactionaries seek to revise the "defense program guidelines" as more aggressive ones. This clearly indicates what phase the present Japanese ruling quarters' reckless zeal to launch overseas aggression and war hysteria have reached. What is hateful is that the Japanese reactionaries are making great haste to reexamine the "defense program guidelines" under the pretext of the DPRK's "nuclear and missile development". This betrays the crafty nature of the Japanese reactionaries accustomed to accusing others to draw water to their mill. They are working hard to realize their old dream of "Greater East Asia Co-prosperity Sphere". They recently launched a spy satellite targeted against the DPRK. The army and the people of the DPRK are greatly infuriated by Japan's frantic moves to beef up the SDF while groundlessly terming the DPRK's satellite launch a "long-range missile launch". It is not a way out for Japan to turn itself into a military giant and launch overseas expansion. |
