The chairman of the War Veterans Committee in Moscow said in a statement on Jan. 26:

It is the legitimate right of the DPRK, a sovereign state, to launch a satellite.

The U.S. and its followers cooked up the UNSC's "resolution" in a bid to deter the DPRK from building an economic giant.

The U.S. moves to deprive the DPRK of its independent right not only run counter to the aspiration and desire of the Korean people and the peace-loving progressives but also wantonly violate international law.

Viktor Yegorov, chairman of the Karelia-DPRK Friendship Association of Russia, said in a statement on Jan. 29 the UNSC infringed upon the sovereignty of the DPRK, following the U.S. hostile policy towards it.

The DPRK's satellite launch is the exercise of the legitimate right of a sovereign state as it does not fall foul of international law, he said.

He demanded the UNSC apologize to the DPRK for infringing upon its sovereignty, being subservient to the U.S., and cancel the "resolution" against it.
