Rodong Sinmun Thursday says this in a bylined article.

The DPRK staged the underground nuclear test to cope with the anti-DPRK hostile acts of the U.S. imperialists who prodded the UN Security Council into cooking up the brigandish "resolution on sanctions" against it over its launch of satellite Kwangmyongsong 3-2, the article notes, and goes on:

They threatened the DPRK to take "a crucial measure" against it if it launches a satellite or conducts a nuclear test and even issued such ultimatum as browbeating it to impose stronger "financial sanctions" unless it implements the "resolution." The army and people of the DPRK can never remain a passive onlooker to their pressure.

The DPRK's nuclear test is a just measure for self-defence to cope with the intensified U.S. nuclear blackmail against it.

The underground nuclear test was conducted by the DPRK against the backdrop of demonstration of huge military muscle by the imperialist allied forces and their followers, gruesome war atmosphere created by them and their mobilization of dangerous means for blocking the economic development of the DPRK and dishonest elements' gambles threatening its vital rights.

It is the disposition and firm will of the service personnel and people of the DPRK to counter a high-handed policy with toughest policy and react to "sanctions" and pressure with an all-out counter-action.

If the U.S. and its allies challenge the DPRK with "strong measure", "financial freeze" and fresh pressure and "sanctions" over its underground nuclear test, it will react to them with stronger measures for self-defence.

The DPRK does not read other's face nor makes any empty talk. It will take toughest measures against the U.S. and other hostile forces' violation of sovereignty and react to their blockade and "sanctions" with a merciless punishment and constant countermeasures.

The U.S. imperialists had better stop acting rashly.
