Japan Urged to Settle Its Past Crimes
Pyongyang, February 15 (KCNA) -- Some time ago, a resolution on the sexual slavery for the Imperial Japanese Army was adopted at the senate of New York State Council in the wake of the similar resolutions done by the House of Representatives of the Federal Congress of the U.S. and the California State Council. The resolution branded the sexual slavery as "a crime against humanity" and "one of the worst flesh traffic in the 20th century". It said that the Japanese government drafted 200 000 women for the Imperial Japanese Army.

It was reported that the New Jersey State Council is expected to adopt a similar resolution and that the House of Representatives of the Federal Congress is examining the adoption of the second resolution after its adoption of the first one in 2007.

Minju Joson Friday observes in a bylined commentary in this regard:

These facts tell that it has become a trend of the times to denounce the past crimes of Japan and demand their settlement.

In the past the Japanese imperialists took away a lot of women in Korea and other Asian countries for sexual slavery for the Imperial Japanese Army and committed all sorts of misdoings against them which make even brutes blush.

The present Japanese government is playing a trick to negate even "Kono statement" in which the then Japanese government admitted Japan's past crimes with half a heart in face of the unanimous protest and condemnation of the international community.

What is intolerable is that some individual Japanese politicians let loose such invectives as the issue of comfort women was "prostitution committed by women for a petty amount of money" and "there is no evidence that the Imperial Japanese Army took away those women by force."

This was another insult to those unfortunate women whose lives were ruined by the Japanese imperialists and an act as bad as rubbing salt into their wounds.

Japan is sadly mistaken if it thinks it can go safe without settling its hideous crimes against humanity.

Japan's future depends on whether it redresses its past crimes or not. It would be well advised to stop such foolish acts as adding to its crimes and opt for redeeming its past wrongdoings as early as possible.
