Seminar Held by Korean Social Scientists in Japan

Pyongyang, February 17 (KCNA) -- A seminar of Korean social scientists in Japan was held at the Korean Press Hall in Tokyo on Feb. 14 to celebrate the birth anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il. Speeches were made on the themes of "On strategic plan clarified by the dear respected Marshal Kim Jong Un in his historic New Year Address for Juche 102 (2013)", "The present situation and prospect in 2013 for building an economic giant" and "On essence and prospect of the situation prevailing on the Korean Peninsula". Speakers said that upon receiving with great excitement the New Year Address and New Year message of Kim Jong Un, all the officials of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) and Koreans in Japan are renewing their resolution to implement his grand plan and intention in all fields. Kim Jong Un in his New Year Address clarified a strategic plan to open an epochal phase in building a thriving socialist country and a reunified thriving country and turn the DPRK into the most powerful country in the world this year, they said. The DPRK has made great progress in building an economic giant and improving the standard of people's living despite the enemy's "sanctions" and pressure, they noted, adding that the DPRK's economy will make big progress as it has already laid a foundation for the independent national economy. They recalled that the DPRK launched an all-out action to defend the sovereignty of the country and nation and shatter the moves of the U.S. and other hostile forces to isolate and stifle it. They urged the U.S. and neighboring countries to face up to the present situation and opt for improving the relations with the DPRK. Present at the seminar were Ko Tok U, vice-chairman of the Central Standing Committee of Chongryon, Kim Hwa Hyo, chairman of the Korean Social Scientists Association in Japan, members of the association, leading officials of Chongryon organizations and enterprises in Tokyo, teachers of Joson University, and Chongryon officials and Koreans in Kanto area. |
