Int'l Figure Skating Festival Closes
Pyongyang, February 17 (KCNA) -- The 22nd Paektusan Prize International Figure Skating Festival closed with due ceremony at the Ice Rink here on Sunday.

Present at the ceremony were Yang Hyong Sop, Ro Tu Chol and officials concerned, sportspersons and other people, delegations of overseas Koreans, overseas compatriots, the chief of the Pyongyang mission of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front and foreign guests.

The prizes of the festival were awarded to players of Russia, Ukraine, Estonia, Canada and the DPRK who displayed high skills in the festival.

Ri Jong Mu, minister of Physical Culture and Sports, in his closing address referred to the fact that figure skaters of foreign countries displayed high skills and movements in deep reverence for leader Kim Jong Il, wishing for his immortality, and thus made contributions to celebrating the February holiday.

He expressed belief that foreign friends and figure skaters would significantly celebrate the birth anniversary of Kim Jong Il (the Day of the Shining Star) with the idea of independence, friendship and peace in the future, too.

There were demonstration performances of figure skaters of foreign countries and the DPRK.
