Pyongyang, February 26 (KCNA) -- A project for introducing a high-temperature, air-combustion technology by the gasification of anthracite was successfully completed at the Chollima Steel Complex by its own efforts and technology within a year and four months. The workers of the complex newly built a gas-generator shop and a large hi-temperature, air-combustion heating furnace for rolling. The use of hi-temperature, air-combustion technology will provide a foundation for massively producing rolled steel by relying on the supply of coal rich in the DPRK, instead of expensive fuel. It also made a big advance in making the country's metallurgical industry more independent. The heating furnace for rolling has been fully computerized ranging from the automatic operation and monitoring of temperature and pressure to protection. The gasification and modernization of the rolling process of the complex is the behests of general secretary Kim Jong Il. The complex started the project on July 6, Juche 100 (2011). It established the technological gasification process for producing hundreds of thousands of tonnes of rolled steel a year. It introduced the world trend of development and advanced technology for hi-temperature and air-combustion heating to suit the specific conditions in the DPRK and completed more than 1 000 designs within three months. In the first-stage project, the complex finished the drive of dismantling huge concrete structure in 20 days, concrete tamping for settling tank of gas producer and wall-plastering in 10 odd days and the construction of pumping station for circulating waters in only 4 days. Dozens of invention proposals and technical innovation proposals were introduced to produce equipment and pipes weighing hundreds of tonnes. The assembling of washing towers and moisture-separator was finished in three days, cutting by more than a half the assembling period of gas producer. The workers of the egg coal production field, pilot of the gasification project, took the lead in the assembling of equipment and carried out the first trial operation. The workers of the complex removed the old heating oven and built the hi-temperature, air-combustion heating furnace 20 days earlier than scheduled, making it possible to hasten the trial operation. A general control station was built in the middle of the premise of the complex for monitoring and commanding the overall production processes and for helping technicians and workers receive tele-education lectures from scientific and educational bodies. There also appeared industrial buildings and cultural and welfare establishments. Also built were a park, a fish farm, a volleyball court and open-air resting places in good harmony with lawn covering 10,000 square meters. |
