Japanese Authorities' Crackdown upon Chongryon Slammed

Pyongyang, March 1 (KCNA) -- The U.S. Regional Headquarters of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea's Reunification issued a statement on Feb. 25 in denunciation of the Japanese authorities' crackdown upon the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon). The statement accused the Japanese conservative government of taking such dastardly action as excluding the Korean schools from the tuition-free program for senior high schools and suspending the payment of subsidies to Korean schools under the pretext of the DPRK's nuclear test. It also conducted search operations against Korean businessmen in Japan and their enterprises and let right-wing gangsters make all sorts of threats and intimidations against Chongryon and Korean schools, the statement noted, adding: Japan's ultra-right forces seeking the revival of militarism instituted the "Takeshima Day" in an attempt to rub salt into the wounds of the Korean nation again. The Korean people's pent-up grudge can never be settled unless the Japanese authorities admit their past wrongdoings and make sincere apology for this. They had better stop their rash actions, mindful of this. They should stop at once the crackdown upon Koreans in Japan and lift their discriminating steps. The world conscience will never pardon Japan's military ambition. The ultra-right forces should bear in mind that they are bound to drink a bitter cup of defeat if they persistently pursue militarism in violation of the sovereignty of the Korean nation despite the DPRK's warning. |
