S. Korean Regime's Crackdown on Pro-reunification Organization under Fire

Pyongyang, March 1 (KCNA) -- The People for Achieving Peace and Reunification in south Korea released a statement on Feb. 26 denouncing the puppet regime's crackdown upon the organization. The statement said that the Inchon District Prosecutor's Office made a non-restraint prosecution of the secretary general of the organization who doubles as co-representative of the Inchon People for Achieving Peace and Reunification on charges of violation of the ill-famed "Security Law". The prosecution authorities took this action against the organization, groundlessly asserting that its opposition to war drills and call for the conclusion of a peace treaty, the pullback of the U.S. forces and the abrogation of alliance with the U.S. were made according to the "instruction of the north." The statement held: The call for the withdrawal of the U.S. forces was made by the Armistice Agreement and the resolution adopted at UN General Assembly. The prosecution authorities' talk about the "instruction" from someone is nothing but sheer sophism to secure a pretext for suppressing the organization by deliberately linking it with the north. The statement urged the prosecution authorities to stop at once the crackdown upon the organization struggling for independent and peaceful reunification. |
