On March 1 94 years ago, the Korean people rose up in different parts of the country for actions for independence and liberation to retake the sovereignty of the country seized by the Japanese imperialists, defying their bayonets, the appeal said.

It added that decades have passed since the uprising but the trace of untold sufferings and disasters inflicted upon the Korean nation still remain on this land and Koreans have deep scar in the hearts.

Japan, however, is distorting history textbooks to beautify its crimes and cover up the truth, far from making sincere apology, repentance and reparation for the past historical crimes. It is asserting that Tok Islets, part of an inviolable territory of Korea, is its land and has been engrossed in making provocations for invasion, the appeal said.

All the Koreans, with towering anger at the Japanese imperialists who massacred Koreans and plundered the land of Korea after occupying it, bitterly denounce the Japanese authorities for not making due apology, repentance and reparation, the appeal added.

It called once again on all the Koreans in the north and the south and abroad to wage nationwide anti-Japanese movement on the occasion of the 94th anniversary of the March First Popular Uprising in order to wrest apology, repentance and reparation from Japan.

All the Koreans will follow through on the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration in unity and expand the wide movement for national reconciliation and independent and peaceful reunification, it stressed.

The appeal in the name of the Korean nation hardened the firm pledge of Tangun's nation to foil Japan's moves for militarist revival through joint anti-Japanese struggle. It also called on all the Koreans to turn out in actions to this end.
