Sports Contest for Paektusan Prize Closes

| Pyongyang, March 1 (KCNA) -- The sports contest for Paektusan Prize closed with due ceremony at the Basketball Gymnasium in Chongchun Street here Friday. It opened on Feb. 5 to mark the birth anniversary of general secretary Kim Jong Il. Men and women players of the April 25 Sports Team placed first in the basketball games (Group A). Men players of the Amnokgang Sports Team and women players of the April 25 Sports Team won in volleyball games (Group A). Men players of the April 25 Sports Team and women players of the Amnokgang Sports Team took the lead in the table-tennis games (Group A) and men players of Sobaeksu Sports Team and women players of the Sajabong Sports Team in the alpine skiing. Present at the closing ceremony were Ri Yong Su, department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Ri Jong Mu, minister of Physical Culture and Sports, officials concerned and sportspersons. |
