Pyongyang, March 4 (KCNA) -- It is the firm determination of the Workers' Party of Korea to turn the DPRK into a sports power by stirring up a hot wind of sports throughout the country and rapidly developing sports science and technology, says Rodong Sinmun Monday in its editorial. Sports are important as they demonstrate the nation's dignity and spirit and its power, says the editorial, adding: The field of sports is faced with an important task to make the flag of the country flutter at international games with the same spirit as displayed by the conquerors of space. The sports persons of the country should make devoted efforts to add glory to the country with gold medals at games, deeply aware that they are taking charge of the responsible and honorable front to demonstrate the honor of the country. To raise a hot wind of sports is the work for stepping up the building of a highly civilized socialist nation and an important requirement for creating a healthy and lively atmosphere in whole society. When all people do their jobs in good health, it is possible to bring earlier the emergence of a thriving nation. The Korean people are a revolutionary people who advance with hope for future and optimism under any difficult conditions. No force can bring into submission the country full of dynamism and the Korean people replete with joy and optimism. A hot wind of sports can be found everywhere in the DPRK. This mounting zeal for sports helps reinforce collectivism and increase the competitive spirit and encourages people to nurture a good habit of mental power and mettle to overcome difficulties. The Workers' Party of Korea's intention to train all people into indomitable revolutionaries, equipped with the revolutionary idea of Juche and fully prepared mentally and physically, is fully demonstrating its validity and vitality in practice. The campaign for turning the DPRK into a sports power is sure to prove successful thanks to the leadership of the great WPK. |
