New Kind of Herbicide Developed in DPRK

| Pyongyang, March 5 (KCNA) -- The Organic Chemistry Institute under the Hamhung Branch of the DPRK State Academy of Sciences has developed a new kind of herbicide for agricultural production, which makes no impact on ecological environment. This herbicide kills at least 97 to 98 percent of annual and perennial aquatic plants in paddy field. The applied herbicide takes effect for 35 to 40 days, with less consumption per hectare than other kinds. Registered as a state invention, it has already been applied in various farms, including the Tongbong Co-op Farm in Hamju County, South Hamgyong Province. |
