Woman Scientists at DPRK Academy of Medical Science

Pyongyang, March 7 (KCNA) -- Women in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea are making signal achievements in scientific research. Among them are scientists at the Pharmacy Research Institute under the Academy of Medical Science. They have played a big role in making new kinds of medicines, according to Yun Yong Hui, director of the Institute. Prof. and Dr. Ri Hui Suk, a winner of the Title of People's Scientist, invented a new method of manufacturing vegetable anticancer agent, seen to be developed in a few countries, with locally available raw materials and succeeded in putting its production on a standardized and industrial basis. Dr. and Assistant Prof. Kim Myong Sim, a winner of the Title of People's Scientist, succeeded in manufacturing multi amino acid fluid with industrial byproducts and found out a method of making antidiabetic agent. Researcher Ko Myong Hui developed a new kind of injection for hyperthyroidism with extracts from the species of locally-available herb and dozens of kinds of health products and anti-cancer injections by use of insam (ginseng). Kim Ryon Hwa, Kim Ryong Hae, Choe Sun Hye and other women researchers invented new kinds of intravenous injection with Koryo medicines for the first time in the country and applied it to treatment. |
