Guarantee of S. Korean Women's Rights Called for

Pyongyang, March 12 (KCNA) -- Women's organizations in Kwangju, south Korea, including the Kwangju Women's Sisterhood Society and the Kwangju-South Jolla Federation of Women's Organizations, held a press conference outside the Kwangju City Office on March 7 at which they called for ensuring the rights of women.

Discrimination and violence practiced against women are getting serious day by day and their vital rights are ruthlessly trampled down, the organizations deplored.

They demanded the authorities take measures to improve the women's situation.

They said they would struggle to realize the rights of women such as the offer of the same wages as men, intensification of punishment on sexual criminals, guarantee of vital rights for the disabled women and provision of the system for supporting upbringing.
