Anniversary of DPRK's Victory in War to Be Commemorated in Pakistan

Pyongyang, March 13 (KCNA) -- A Pakistani national preparatory committee was inaugurated on Mar. 3 to mark the 60th anniversary of the Korean people's victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War. Amar Jit, a senator, was elected chairman of the preparatory committee. There were speeches at the inaugural meeting. Zabed Ansari, secretary general of the Karachi Branch of the Pakistan-Korea Friendship Association, referred in detail to the fact that the DPRK's army and people won a shining victory in the three year-long Fatherland Liberation War under the leadership of President Kim Il Sung. On July 27, 1953 the heroic Korean People's Army and people defeated the U.S. imperialists who boasted of their "mightiness", he noted, adding that this day is celebrated as the day of their second liberation. He paid tribute to the President, who defended the sovereignty of Korea with his outstanding and seasoned leadership. The general secretary of the Sind Provincial Committee of the Pakistan Awami National Party praised the President as an invincible and iron-willed brilliant commander who liberated Korea by leading an arduous and bloody struggle with the Japanese imperialists. Shahida Wijarat, chairman of the Society for the Study of Self-Reliance of Pakistan, said the President's cause of reunifying the country was successfully carried forward by Chairman of the National Defence Commission Kim Jong Il, who made sure that the historic June 15 North-South Joint Declaration was adopted. This cause is now being inherited by the dear respected Kim Jong Un, brilliant commander of Mt. Paektu, he added. |
